Moundsville City Leaders Tightening the Belt as Income Losses Figure to Mount
Posted 04/23/20MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — West Virginia Governor Jim Justice closed non-essential businesses across West Virginia on March 17, but places like Moundsville aren't expecting to see the effects immediately.
“When July 1st hits and we start seeing our second quarter returns coming in, which is going to cover April, May and June, that's when we're going to see a big hit,” Moundsville City Manager Rick Healy said.
Closed businesses means no B&O tax being collected by the city, which is also losing out on its 1 percent sales tax.
